February, our office in Gaza organized an event for over 60 alumni of
USG exchange programs at the Roots Restaurant. Seven of the alumni
pitched their ideas for the Alumni Innovation Fund 2015 and started

Did you know that we have “American Corner” in most West Bank cities?
An American Corner is an American space that contains a library,
multimedia center and resources about life and education in the U.S.
Last week we invited the Palestinian directors of our American Corners
for training with the State Department’s regional information resources
officer. The training tackled topics on the effective management of
American spaces.

Last Thursday, America House Ramallah held one of its English
conversation classes open to the public. Guess who was the American
guest of honor? It was Deputy Principal Officer Dorothy Shea. The
current class is full, but we will let you know when the next session
opens

AMIDEAST English classes in Jerusalem. At the end of the course, Public
Diplomacy Chief Richard Buangan and Amid East Director Steven Keller

Women Entrepreneurs
We invited Palestinian businesswomen from the American
Chamber of Commerce in Ramallah for a workshop on social media marketing
with Jawwal Telecom, Palestinian blogger Saed Karzoun, Twitter
executive Eugene Yi and our own social media team. The two day workshop
empowered the women with the skills to navigate social media and
increase their sales.

Access Alumni
A group of English Access students are currently designing a project to
build awareness against the dangers of dropping out of school. Their
idea was to take a photo of a student studying in a class room while his
“bright future” persona stands next to him. They also took photos of
drop-outs with their “unsuccessful future” persona next to him. See
